The short version
ExtGuard is a tool that helps you catch Chrome Web Store rejection errors before submission. We do our best to flag real issues, but we can't guarantee your extension will be approved. You own your code. Don't abuse the service. Be excellent to each other.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ExtGuard (the "Service"), operated through the website https://extguard.online. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What ExtGuard is — and isn't
ExtGuard performs static analysis on Chrome extension .zip files and produces a report of likely policy violations and best-practice issues, intended to be reviewed before submission to the Chrome Web Store.
ExtGuard is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Google LLC. A clean ExtGuard report does not guarantee that your extension will be approved by Google. Google's review process includes human reviewers, internal machine-learning models, and proprietary checks that we cannot replicate. The Service is provided as a tool to reduce rejection risk, not eliminate it.
3. Your account
To save scans, manage API keys, or subscribe to a paid plan, you must create an account through our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your code, your ownership
The Chrome extension code you analyze with ExtGuard remains entirely yours. The Service performs scanning in your browser and does not transmit, store, or claim any rights to your source code. We do not use your code to train models, demonstrate features, or for any purpose beyond producing your scan report.
If you save a scan, we store only the resulting structured report (findings, scores, paths, suggestions) — not the underlying source files.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to scan code you do not have the right to analyze.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our scanning rules at scale for redistribution.
- Use the Service to facilitate the development of extensions that violate Chrome Web Store policies, infringe intellectual property, or harm users.
- Circumvent plan limits, abuse the API, share API keys publicly, or attempt to exceed rate limits.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to compromise the security of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Resell, white-label, or commercially redistribute the Service without an explicit agreement with us.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Free and paid plans
The Service offers a free tier with usage limits, and paid plans with expanded features. Pricing and feature inclusions are described on the pricing page and may change with reasonable notice.
When payments are enabled, billing is handled by Dodo Payments, acting as the Merchant of Record. By subscribing, you also agree to the applicable terms of Dodo Payments. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from the customer portal. Refunds, where applicable, follow Dodo's refund process. Taxes are calculated and remitted by Dodo where required by law.
7. API access
If you create API keys, you are responsible for keeping them secret. Treat them like passwords. We hash and never re-display API keys after creation; if a key is lost, you must create a new one. We may revoke keys engaged in abuse, excessive load, or breach of these Terms without prior notice.
8. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, infrastructure issues, or events beyond our control. We may modify or discontinue features at any time. Where reasonable, we will provide advance notice of significant changes.
9. Intellectual property
The Service — including the website, branding, scanning rules database, and software — is owned by ExtGuard and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
10. Feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
Please read carefully.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will detect every policy violation in your extension.
- Following ExtGuard's recommendations will result in approval by the Chrome Web Store.
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
- Any defects in the Service will be corrected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ExtGuard and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or reputational harm — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Specifically and without limitation: we are not liable for the rejection of your extension by Google, lost launch timelines, lost sales, or any consequence of relying on a scan report.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ExtGuard from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or pose a security or legal risk. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we may delete your account data after the retention period described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or via the dashboard. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of India, unless otherwise required by mandatory law in your jurisdiction.
17. Miscellaneous
- If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
- Our failure to enforce any right or provision will not be a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
